After losing earlier in the week in Madrid, both Nadal and Djokovic threatened not to return to the Spanish capital next year if the tournament was still played on the slippery blue clay.
Yet, Roger Federer won his third Madrid Open on Sunday against Tomas Berdych, showing that at least one tennis superstar could come to terms with the controversial blue clay used for the first time in this tournament. He said: “It has been a tough tournament. Tough to move, but you’ve got to try to make the most of it. Here there was some good tennis and some bad tennis, but you see that in all tournaments.”
“…The resurgent Swiss came from a set down to beat Tomas Berdych 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the Madrid final, a fourth title of the year and put him level on 20 Masters crowns with great rival Nadal.” Yeaaaaah!!!
